Empty Nesters? Not Yet!

I Am VDysa, April 12, 2026April 12, 2026

My husband and I are in our early fifties, and our kids are getting older. Our daughter is already in college, and our son will be there in a couple of years.

It took us some time to get used to not having our daughter at home last Fall, and now we’re working toward getting used to her coming back for short periods.

But this weekend, our son left on a field trip, and we were, for the first time, alone in the house for two whole days.

It was strange. We know we’d get used to it when we’re finally empty nesters, but this little taste was… silent. Fortunately, it was quick, and our daughter came to visit for the weekend, and our son came back early Saturday. We were fortunate to spend an afternoon and morning together before our daughter had to go back to college.

Needless to say, I can’t wait for summer to have my babies in the house… at least for a little while longer.
